Iceland’s Vatnajökull Glacier is Europe’s largest glacier, covering over 3,000 square miles, three times the size of Luxembourg. Ice caps cover some active volcanoes and cause glacial floods when they erupt. According to NASA, Vatnajökull is rapidly losing ice, shrinking in volume by about 15% over the past 100 years.
